Understanding Pip Values

What is a Pip?

A pip (Point in Percentage) is the smallest price move in a currency pair. For most pairs, a pip is 0.0001, but for JPY pairs, it's 0.01.

How Pip Value is Calculated:

  • Standard Lot (100,000 units): Typically $10 per pip for USD pairs
  • Mini Lot (10,000 units): Typically $1 per pip for USD pairs
  • Micro Lot (1,000 units): Typically $0.10 per pip for USD pairs

Formula:

Pip Value = (0.0001 / Exchange Rate) × Position Size × 100,000
